Valentina Améstica (Chile, 1994)
Lives and works in New York.
Artist and graphic designer, with studies in Graphic Design at Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) in Chile and in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins in the UK.
Working from an experimental approach, Valentina develops her practice across printing, typography, graphic design, art installations, and poetry. Her work questions the infraordinary—the overlooked aspects of everyday life that lose their sense of wonder through repetition. Through images, objects, and words, she engages with the background noise of existence. She collects and re-signifies fragments of the environment—graphic remnants that have lost their original function—and, through their transformation, creates new visual compositions that explore time, memory, and the fragility of the ephemeral.
Her work has been exhibited internationally across different contexts and spaces. These include being awarded the ZAZ Contest and exhibiting her work in Times Square, New York; being selected as a Book Artist-in-Residence at the Center For Book Arts (NYC) and invited to Zagreb Design Week with Local Chile; as well as presenting her solo exhibitions Relatos Pasajeros at Citylab, GAM, and M.A.P.S. at Miriam Gallery, New York. In 2026, Forbes Chile recognized her as one of the country’s 50 most creative people.
Her work can be found at Naranja Publicaciones, Citylab, Center For Book Arts, Printed Matter, and Miriam Gallery.
